Welcome Back 2012 BBQ

To kick off the start of our 2012 campaign Austral will be holding a Welcome back BBQ event on Tuesday 31st January at Angus Neill Reserve, Esplanade, Seacliff from 6:30pm. It is an all ages event for members of the club new and old, as well as family and friends are all welcome.
 
All team coaches will be introduced and information regarding trainings, league season dates, 2012 membership options and fees will be provided.
 
There will be a gold coin donation BBQ as well as soft drinks, merchandise and 2012 AUSTRAL calendars available for purchase – calendars only $10 each.

Date: Tuesday, 31st Jan 2012

Where: Angus Neill Reserve, (near the Seacliff SLSC), 196 The Esplande, Seacliff (see map below)

Austral VC AGM & Presentations – Lawn Bowls Extravagana

Come along to the End of Season AGM and Presentation Afternoon to be held at the Clarence Gardens Bowls Club!
 
When: Sunday October 16th, 11am – 5pm.
Where: Clarence Garden Bowling Club, Winona Ave, Clarence Gardens.
 
Awards to be given out include:

MVP’s for each Team.
Most Improved for each Team.
Best Rookie Player for Each Gender.

Also we will be holding our AGM where the new Committee will be elected, so if you wish to be a part of that, please come along and nominate yourself for the Comittee.

Last, but certainly not least, it is at a Bowls Club, so for all of you who fancy yourselves as Bowlers, come along and have a roll with your Austral mates.

End of Season Bash

We are planning a party to celebrate the end of the 2011 Season.

When: Saturday 10th August, 2011
Where: Cosgrove Hall
Time: 6pm

There’s going to be a DJ laying down some beats, Lamb on the spit, vegetarians will be catered for also if you don’t like lamb, BYO drinks and celebrate Season 2011!

$5 for members
$15 for non-members

Hopefully we will be celebrating some championships also!!!

FINALS ACTION CONTINUED

We have ONE team representing the club in the VSA State League Final Series.

The League Reserve Men are fighting to keep their Finals dream alive THIS SATURDAY, 3rd September at 12pm!!

We need everyone out in force to help the boys make it to the grand final.

Nando’s Night

Paid Coaching Positions

If you are interested in earning some good money or perhaps just reducing your 2011 club fees (you could even play for free) then read on.

Austral have joined forces with the Australian Sports Commission and their Active After-School Communities program to run volleyball coaching sessions in Primary Schools throughout the school term.  As the name suggests the sessions are run after school hours at primary schools that have registered an interest in having volleyball taught to their students.  It will involve running fun, game-type activities for students once per week for 7-8 weeks during the school term, so that is 7-8 sessions of approximately 1.5hrs duration.

Naturally, the aim from our perspective is to represent Austral and the sport of volleyball in an exemplary fashion and hopefully attract more participants to the sport and members to the Club.  So you will be required to promote Austral…and why wouldn’t you?

There will be several positions available and we hope that this will be a program that we can run throughout next year across several schools surrounding Cosgrove Hall – but we are looking to start small with just 1 or 2 schools in Term 4 of 2010.

The rate of pay will be dependent on your coaching qualifications, and anyone interested in being part of this program will receive assistance in improving their skills and qualification in addition to payment for the sessions that they run.

This is a great way to contribute to the growth and development of Austral and volleyball as a whole while making some coin.  So get on it!

Active After School Communities Program

Sunday October 10th at Seacliff Yacht Club is an opportunity for us to commence a membership drive for juniors etc via the Active After-School Communities (AASC)program.  There is a Come ‘n’ Try day for various sports available including Aquatic activities and Beach Hockey.  I thought it might be a good opportunity for us to capitalise on the coming beach season and try to attract some juniors from primary through high school age to the club via a beach volleyball set-up.  The event runs from 10am until 1pm, so it is not all day, and as long as we can get a few of us there by 9:30 to set up and then perhaps rotate through for the remainder of the event we should be right.
