The Austral Phoenix 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner is sure to be a great night with club legends, teammates and friends, old and new, in attendance to reminisce and re-acquaint.

The night includes a 3 course Dinner, Silent Auction, Guest Speakers, Awards, Memorabilia, Live Entertainment and more.

Time: 6:30 pm onwards

Location: Dom Polski Centre, 232 Angas Street, Adelaide

Dress Code: Black-tie/Cocktail

Attention: Senior Women – Squad Training Times

Initial Squad Selections have been posted on Facebook, please check the page or speak to Peter Bawhey (0415 317 482) to determine with squad you are in. Please note squads are liquid and can change between now and round 1 dependent upon performance and attendance at trainings.

As of Tuesday 26th February training times will be as follows;

TUESDAY

6.30 – 8.00 pm: League/Reserves Squad

8.00 – 9.30 pm: Division One Squad

WEDNESDAY

6.30 – 8.00 pm: Division One Squad

8.00 – 9.30 pm: League/Reserves Squad

FITNESS

7.45 – 8 pm on both Tuesdays and Thursdays for ALL SQUADS.

 


Coaching Positions for Season 2013

If you are passionate about coaching and/or knowledgeable about volleyball and would like to be part of a club on the rise; look no further than Austral Volleyball Club Inc. (Austral Phoenix). Based at Clovelly Park, Austral Phoenix is seeking applications for all coaching positions including Head/League, Reserves, Divisional and Junior coaches for our Men’s and Women’s programmes for the 2013 season.

In addition to coaching, you will be responsible for team selection, practice management, individual and team development, retention of players and other duties as assigned. All coaching positions are non-salaried, however, a gratuity payment will be made at the end of the State League season or as mutually agreed with the Club Committee of Management.

Volleyball coaching experience at State League or Reserves level is preferred for senior roles and achieving current Volleyball Coaching Accreditation with NCAS recognition is essential. Assistance will be provided to all appointed coaches to gain accreditation as well as to develop their coaching skills. An ability to bring new members to the club will be also considered favourably.

To apply for a coaching position, please send in a cover letter indicating your preferred role (grade and gender) and give a brief account of your coaching and /or volleyball experience. All applicants are subject to National Police Clearance certification, so if you have a current certificate please include this with your application.

VSA Awards Dinner 2012

The annual VSA Awards event was held at the Waterfront Hotel at Glenelg in October.

Austral was well represented on the night with 16 members present.

Austral was also well represented in the winners list for significant recognition and numerous prestigious awards:

Di Biebrick – who was a great player for Austral some time ago, as well as for Australia, was named in Volleyball Australia’s “Women’s Indoor Team of the Half Century” and inaugural inductee into Volleyball Australia’s Hall of Fame

Club Awards Presentation and 39th Annual General Meeting

August 30, 2012

Forty seven club members and a strong contingent of family and friends came along and enjoyed a sunny afternoon with a BBQ, drinks and lawn bowls. In between we had the AGM hosted by Lexi, and annual presentations with most of the winners present to accept the awards.

Austral had a solid year competitively and financially [read full minutes and reports here: Austral AGM Minutes 2012] and we are looking forward to a big one with our 40th Anniversary next year.

Junior Trials

This Sunday, Austral Phoenix are running Junior Trials for all junior athletes!
The try-outs will be held at Cosgrove Hall (York Avenue, Clovelly Park) at the following times:
1.30 – 2.30 pm: 11 – 13 y/o Boys and Girls
2.30 – 3.30 pm: 14 – 18 y/o Boys and Girls

Stratco St Mary’s Fundraisin BBQ

Come one, come all THIS SATURDAY

The Phoenix are cooking some tasty snags and bacon & egg sangers.

Saturday 12th February at Stratco St Mary’s, just off South Road.

9 am – 3 pm.

Players – please make sure that you have enough people to man your rostered times.

9 – 10 am : Div 1 Girls

10 – 11 am: Div 1 Guys

11 – 12 noon: Reserve Girls

12 –  1 pm: Reserve Guys

1 – 2 pm: League Girls

2 – 3 pm: League Men


State League Round 1 STARTS FRIDAY

Phoenix Get Excited!!

Round 1 kicks off this Friday night with the Reserve Women’s and Men’s teams taking on the Northern Knights at 7 and 8.30pm at Mt Lofty. Come out a support your fellow Phoenixes.

If you think you will have had enough volleyball on Friday night, think again. All 7 Phoenix teams are back on the courts on Saturday between 9 am and 4 pm.

Wishing all teams stepping out in the fantastic Purple Good Luck for Round One.

 


Beach Volleyball Day

January 28, 2013

Austral Phoenix are hosting a Beach Volleyball Day at City Beach, featuring a “Mixed 3′s” competitions for something different, along with Men’s, Women’s and Junior Boys and Girls Pairs!

Cost is $10 per player, games will be between 10am and 3pm, with finals after that.

Sign-in will be at 9.30am, teams will be expected to do duty, same as the SAVBS.

There will be a prize for Best Dressed Team.

Bring along all your friends and family for a bit of fun in the sand!!
